As a follow-up to the "Great Decisions" program, we will continue to explore major issues in contemporary society, culture, and politics. This fourth offering in the “Current Global Events” series will be led by Dr. Toni Cavanagh Johnson and Dr. Stuart J. Sigman, who will examine “Social Media: Mental Health Consequences across Age Groups. Would Media Bans Help?” A short reading will be sent to registrants prior to the session, and we will begin the meeting with a brief overview video. This group is an opportunity to consider what is known about the effects of the internet and social media on people’s mental health and relationships, especially among younger populations such as grandchildren. We will also consider the several efforts to ban media usage in the U.S. and in other countries. Will bans fix the problem?
