These walks are brisk, three to four milers. They are longer and more energetic than the Friday Urban Walks and will likely involve hills and a few stairs. The goal is to get our heart rate up and maintain or improve our fitness level. Walking levels will be a combination of pavement and unpaved walking paths.
For this walk, we will meet at 7:00AM in the parking lot next to the Casting Pond in the Lower Arroyo. For navigation you can use 415 S. Arroyo Blvd. The driveway to the Casting Pond and parking area is at the intersection of S. Arroyo Blvd. and Norwood Drive.
This 3.4-mile walk will circle around the San Rafael neighborhood on the west side of the Arroyo. We’ll have hills and stairs to climb. The walk starts by heading south on the east side of the trail to La Loma, up and across the bridge and south on Hillside Terrace. We’ll make a loop walking on Laguna, Nithsdale and San Rafael, circling back to La Loma and down into the Arroyo, walking back to the Casting Pond.
Bring water and consider wearing a hat!
