Late risers is a new walking group for those of us who just can’t get out earlier in the morning. We will take a walk led by one of our members and afterward stop for lunch. Walks will be 2-3 miles long.
This hidden gem of a park is in an industrial pocket of east Arcadia on Peck Road south of the 210 freeway. Behind the warehouses and industrial buildings is a reservoir and a park landscaped with native California plants. It is a bit far from Pasadena, but a fun place to visit. The walk here is on flat paths which are well maintained, but not paved and not that long. The view of the San Gabriel Mountains and Mt. Baldy from here is beautiful, especially in the winter and spring. And there ought to be wildflowers blooming there now.
Exit the 210 freeway at Myrtle Ave in Monrovia and drive about 2.8 miles south. Myrtle turns into Peck Road as you go south. The entrance to the park is on the right. Look for a multicolor sign between warehouses – you won’t see the park from the street, just a driveway. Turn in and there is plenty of parking.
Afterwards we can walk to nearby Burritos La Palma, which is often featured on lists of great Mexican food.
Please contact event organizer Gina Frierman-Hunt to join the walk and to get details about the start time and place, and be added to the group email list. Guests are welcome to join.
