Join us at Arroyo Seco with Los Angeles consulting arborist Alison Lancaster. This will be a casual walk-and-talk using trees along the Gabrielino Trail as tools for discussion, guided by audience questions, with flexibility to cover a range of topics such as:
- Native vs non-native trees
- Tree identification, health, structure, and physiology
- Protection status of native trees in Los Angeles
- Best practices for pruning, watering, mulching, and other maintenance
- Construction, landscaping, and other site modifications around trees
- Native vs invasive insects and diseases
- Habitat trees and cavity preservation
The walk-and-talk will start in the JPL Riparian Zone parking lot, go along 1 mile of the Gabrielino Trail, and end near the first picnic turnout. We recommend that you leave your pens and notebooks behind, and instead come prepared to immerse yourself in the trail, the trees, and the discussion. |
If you have any questions please contact the event organizer, Jim Hendrick.
