Edwards' album work has been described as "small-group jazz at its finest” by the LA Times. Gather with the friends, villagers and those impacted by the Eaton Fire to create community and healing through music.

About Chad Edwards Ensemble:

Pianist and composer Chad Edwards has been active in the LA area jazz scene for over four decades. As a leader, his 2024 album release, Wyoming Roads, is receiving widespread critical acclaim – “Magnificently eclectic, infectiously engaging.” (Jonathan Widran/JW Vibe); “… an excellent modern mainstream pianist. A joy to hear.” (Scott Yanow/L.A. Jazz Scene). His earlier album, Resolution, was deemed “One of my favorite releases this year...small-group jazz at its finest” by the LA Times music reviewer Paul Anderson. Over the past decade Edwards has recorded eight albums with the San Gabriel 7 jazz/funk band, playing piano, keyboards, and Hammond B-3, in collaboration with a series of outstanding guest vocalists including Janis Siegel (of the Manhattan Transfer), Tierney Sutton, and Sinne Eeg. Earlier work includes recording with the retro-bop quartet Now and Zen and recording and touring with the jazz-fusion sextet Slow Burn.

In addition to his music activities, Edwards has pursued a parallel career as a “rocket scientist” at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, developing technologies for deep space communications and leading mission studies for future Mars exploration. With The Altadena Jazz Collective, Edwards joins forces with three outstanding LA area musicians: Chuck Manning (sax), Larry Muradian (bass), and Jack Cook (drums). Manning is a founding member of the LA Jazz Quartet, with four albums and frequent LA performances to their credit. Muradian co-led the Donavan-Muradian Quartet, a fixture for many years in the Pasadena area. And Cook appears regularly with guitarist Pat O’Brien and the Priests of Love; over his career he has appeared with a wide range of artists including Carla Bley, Steve Swallow, La Toya Jackson, The Drifters, The Temptations, and many more.
