Join us for an artist talk with LGBTQ+ artist Kate Muehlemann-Cataldo. She will discuss her body of work which has been informed by her experiences as a End of Life Doula and Hospice Nurse.
Kate is a portrait and figurative painter whose work aims to examine the trust and vulnerability they've found while caring for hospice patients and LGBTQ+ Elders. Models are often depicted in their home environments, with special attention to space, personal objects, and the stories that they tell. Kate studied at The Art Student's League of New York and is currently an Artist in Residence at Side Street Projects in Altadena.
Kate's current project, The Constellations Project, fosters connections between queer elders and youth, nurturing intergenerational bonds and community care. Kate launched her second-year exhibition of the project at Ren Hen Press Pasadena. This exhibition showcases audio-recorded oral histories and painted portraits of eight LGBTQ+ elders alongside 40+ artworks created by LGBTQ+ teenagers and young adults in response to the elders' stories.
