Vintage Celebration: Aging in Place Like a Fine Wine
By Katie BrandonPosted: 09/28/2023
Celebrate the joy of aging and the contributions of older adults in our community at Pasadena Village’s Vintage Celebration on Thursday, October 26 at 5:30 PM. The Vintage Celebration will honor Lagerlof, LLP and Monica Hubbard at the historic Shakespeare Club Pasadena. Villagers, friends, and supporters are invited for a lovely evening of libations, hors d'oeuvres, live music, art, and raffle prizes. Regular tickets are $55, VIP tickets which admit two guests are $350, and sponsorships start at $1,000. Reserve your tickets and review sponsor benefits at www.pasadenavillage.org/events/1085
Artist Karen Bagnard will depict a dozen “Village Vintners” through art. She asked fellow Pasadena Villagers, “Have you ever thought of yourself as a fine wine, aged to perfection? Here’s your chance to think about it! How would you describe the taste? What would this wine be called? Are you a ‘fine’ wine or, perhaps, ‘less-than-fine?’ You can really have fun with this!” She will describe how each individual’s experience and personality would affect the characteristics of a fine wine. Each vintner will be represented by a beautifully designed wine bottle art piece with a label containing the name of the wine, description, and vintage (birth) year.
View these one-of-a-kind commissions, enter a chance to win other artist-designed work and specialized items in the raffle, listen to Art Deco Entertainment and enjoy the ambiance of the 1928 Shakespeare Club Villa. Honorees Monica Hubbard and representatives from Lagerlof, LLP will be recognized for their contributions to the founding and growth of Pasadena Village, and for their extensive dedication to the philanthropic community in Pasadena and Altadena. Casual cocktail attire is requested.
Over 90% of older adults want to remain in their homes as they age. Pasadena Village is the only nonprofit organization in this area dedicated to supporting aging-in-place older adults. The Vintage Celebration is sponsored by Convalescent Aid Society, Huntington Health, and Trust Properties USA and supports Pasadena Village's mission to foster vital independent living.
Tickets may be purchased online at www.pasadenavillage.org/events/1085 or by calling 626-765-6037.
Due to generous community support, Pasadena Village is able to offer free educational and cultural programs to the public including upcoming offerings on decluttering, Black artists, IT help, and several walking opportunities. View and sign up here.
About Monica Hubbard
Monica Hubbard has dedicated her life to sharing her love of music, supporting women and children, and building community in Altadena. Her extensive volunteer contributions to our greater community include her current involvement with Boys and Girls Club of Pasadena; Young & Healthy; ACT; National Women’s Political Caucus Greater Pasadena Area; the Mt. Lowe Chamber Players; and the Advisory Committee for Dr. Phlunté Riddle’s campaign for State Assembly.
Incredibly, she has been a founding board member of almost a dozen organizations, among them the Los Angeles Children’s Chorus; Vox Femina LA; The Women’s Room at Friends in Deed; Foster Care Project; Mt. Lowe Chamber Players; and Pasadena Village.
Monica also created two women’s e-newsletters, Altadena Women’s Network and Wired Women, now combined into one weekly publication that provides information about activities and events of particular interest to women in Altadena and Pasadena.
