Coming Soon: More Resources for Older Americans, Online and in Person
By Susan KujawaPosted: 03/25/2024
The core vision of Pasadena Village is to make it possible for older adults to thrive through the development of new friends, meaningful experiences, and involvement in our wider community. Over the past 13 years, we have created a rich array of programs and activities that, indeed, help our Villagers build new friendships, enjoy a wide variety of activities, and continue to live as part of the community.
But our broader vision is to build up the entire community so that all older adults have access to information, resources and personal connections that are key to living life to the fullest. Pasadena Village accomplishes this in a number of ways.
With a grant from the Pasadena Community Foundation, we are working on a new online aging resource website which will be a comprehensive resource that covers relevant topics and organizations for older adults. Look for its launch soon. The Community Foundation also funded our latest Walk with Ease 6-week program which invited all older adults to overcome joint pain or arthritis through guided walks and stretches together.
In addition to one-to-one technology help that is available to Villagers anytime they need it, several times a year we offer a free IT Cafe where anyone can get assistance in English and Spanish. Join us for the next IT Cafe on Saturday, April 27, 10 a.m. to noon at the Shakespeare Club.
Twice a year, we invite everyone to connect with businesses and organizations that support older adults at resource fairs in partnership with many supportive partners. Don’t miss the next one, on May 22, in partnership with the City of Pasadena Parks & Recreation Department and Senior Commission. Join us at Victory Park in celebration of Older Americans Month. This event is sponsored by Home Instead Pasadena & Monrovia, Villa Gardens, and The Kensington. Learn more here.
Since October, Pasadena Village has been partnering nationally with USAging through the Aging and Disability Vaccination Collaborative, to amplify our efforts in promoting community health.
Pasadena Village is leading the way with partnerships and outreach so that all older adults can have access to the tools and connections that enhance and expand the ways we can age well. Together we can improve quality of life and expand choices at all stages of aging — strengthening older adults, their families, and our entire community.
