How can we expand support to village members?
By John TuitePosted: 09/26/2021
Men's Time Topic Discussion for Tuesday, October 5th
Welcome Men of the Village to October, deep into Fall, leaves coloring and falling, cool weather, long awaited, now upon us. (Remember when we burned the leaves and the air was smokey and beautifully scented! No more…)
The year is aging…we are aging…our honorary Chief, Tom Stowitts, was 97! In September! Still showing up for Men’s Time…still making a contribution! Let’s hear a great ovation for Tom!
Kit Davis, our Anchorman, is still creating art and counting his contribution to written literature. Let’s hear it for Kit! Who else is over 90?
Let’s get this birthday thing straight, what do you say, so we can remember each others’ day and year. How shall we collect them? Are they on the directory?
The subject of the month has to do with my being invited to serve on a Strategic Plan Committee which has been formed by the Board of Directors and headed up by Pat Dawe and our Director, Katie Brandon.
Men’s Time is a committee of the Village which represents about 10% of the Village membership. If we count the other 15-20 men members, the men represent about 20-25% of the membership.
I believe it’s in order while the Strategic Plan is progressing for us to take an inventory of our needs, services, and responsibilities. We may want to give serious consideration to how we might expand our support of ailing, lonely, or dependent fellow members. This is just a topic for further discussion. I would like to hear from everybody about how you feel about our role in the Village. Who would like to open the floor?
