Message From The President

I don’t recall a September that passed as quickly as this one. It feels like I turned around and it’s October. Perhaps it’s because this particular September was far busier than I anticipated… maybe that’s true for you, too.

I was shocked when I learned that in the month of September, Villagers were given the opportunity to attend more than 90 Village events, and that doesn’t include the state and national conferences! It’s no wonder time flew by!

Well, whether we were too busy, not busy enough or somewhere in between, September is, indeed, in the past. That leaves us a moment to consider how we will participate with the Village in October. It will, no doubt, be a whirlwind, but it’s up to each of us to decide when and how we participate in our Village.  

Personally, I’m eagerly anticipating our one-and-only annual FUNdraising event. For Villagers, the Vintage Celebration is an extra special time when we dress up a bit and blow the dust off those duds we love to wear but never have a reason to. We get to listen (maybe even dare to dance) to lively music, experience a little magic (courtesy of a roving magician), offer a few extra dollars to the Village through purchasing mystery wines (how hard can that be?), and purchase a few raffle tickets. I love a party, but not by myself… it will only be fun if you join me.

October is also a time of taking a deep breath and considering how we are present in the life of our Village. A time for asking ourselves how we are feeling about aging in place. A time for thinking about how we’re living our mission by supporting other Villagers. 

My hope for each of you is to be happy and healthy enough to lean into Village life.
