2022 Election Review

Many of us have been and still are intensely concerned about the state of the world that we live in. This country recently held an election, extremely important and distinct. It is distinct in the sense that no other country has an election day where so many issues and positions are decided at the same time. It is important because of the leadership position the United States has in the world. The leadership position is based on the economic and military power that the US has but it is also very importantly based on the inspirational power that it has by being the country that is described in the documents that founded and shaped our country.
This recent election produced many results that will set the direction for years to come on many issues. Many of the outcomes remain a great concern, but many are quite positive and it is important that we not overlook those. This will be the focus of our upcoming meeting on Friday, November 18th at 12 Noon Pacific Standard Time.
Wes Moore was the1st Black Governor elected in Maryland, and the 3rd Black Governor to be elected in the Unites States. In a recent interview, he was asked about his family history and he spoke about his grandfather who left the U.S. to get away from threats from the Ku Klux Klan. When asked why he returned to a country from which he had to flee to save his own life, he responded, " This country would be incomplete without me." This seems like a profound statement, worthy of our consideration and discussion.
Another outcome of the election that deserves consideration and examination is the diversity of of the candidates who won the election which included different races and ethnicity, different gender identifications, and endorsements of different principles presented in various states.
