Profile of a Leader: Ron Stoffers

Ron Stoffers serves on the Pasadena Village Board of Directors as a non-member who brings thoughtfulness and professional expertise to the work of the board. He was born in Pasadena, moved to Orange County and then returned here to raise his family. He now works as a California licensed professional fiduciary with his own business, RAS Consulting. Ron is married to Karen Lower and they have two adult children.

As a leader in his industry who sits on bank and nonprofit boards, Ron was recently elected not only as Regional Director of the Professional Fiduciary Association of California (PFAC), but he was also appointed to the State Board of PFAC with responsibilities for the entire state of California. He said, “I’m honored to have the opportunity to serve with committed folks who work together to serve the organization and its members.” As a professional fiduciary, Ron represents people who want and need an ethical representative to serve as their adviser in medical and financial decisions. “In essence, I do what I do because I like helping people,” Ron said.

Many of us don’t know what a fiduciary is or exactly how they can be of help as we age. According to the PFAC, “A fiduciary’s role is not merely that of business manager, decision-maker, or guardian. It is also a nurturing bond of trust, concern, and attentive care-giving. A fiduciary seeks to support mental and emotional well-being; reduce the stress of changing circumstances or unexpected events; and, most importantly, help each client, and their families, enjoy a fulfilling life.” Interestingly, Villagers help each other in much the same way, but certainly not to the extent or with the expertise of a professional fiduciary.

Given his role as a fiduciary, it’s no surprise that Ron got excited about the Village a few years ago and, as he learned more, he wanted to get involved as an additional way to help others. He sums it up this way: “It has been amazing working with such a dedicated and talented group on the Village Board. They have such an interesting and impressive background. I've learned so much from them and continue to be inspired by the successful growth of the organization.”
