New to the Village
By Purnima BarvePosted: 10/27/2023
Purnima is a brand new Villager and was unable to make it to the first meeting of her Wild West neighborhood group. She wrote this note to apologize for missing the meeting. It is a wonderful expression of what the Village provides to new villagers.
Hi all,
I appreciate the invite and may be able to join in after few weeks since I am still recuperating from my misadventure witnessed by some of you. Speaking of which, I would like to thank everyone who was there from the bottom of my heart for your kindness and generosity towards a complete stranger such as myself. Each and every one of you made me feel so welcome as soon as I walked in, I certainly felt I belonged there. That in itself was very precious. As I have experienced in the aging process, this sense of belonging in groups starts getting rarer. On top that, everyone’s graciousness and concern for my wellbeing was truly overwhelming after I had the fall. In the days following my little mishap, even my daughter, who was staying with me was impressed with how many calls, and messages I received from members. I feel awful for having been clumsy to fall; however, at the same time, I also feel grateful that I fell in a place where I was surrounded by such a wonderfully compassionate group of people. My heartfelt gratitude towards all of you, again!
