The Pasadena Village thrives as a vibrant, member-driven organization dedicated to fostering independence, wellness, and community engagement among older adults across the San Gabriel Valley. Central to the Village’s success is its Board of Directors, a dynamic group composed of Village Members and volunteers from the broader community. These individuals bring expertise, dedication, and vision to ensure the Village’s mission is achieved with integrity and innovation.

The Role of the Board

The Board of Directors serves as the governing body of Pasadena Village, charged with safeguarding its fiscal health and guiding its strategic direction. Directors of the Board are also responsible for ensuring the legal and ethical integrity of the organization while overseeing the activities of the Executive Director and key committees, including Development, Executive, Finance, and Governance.  The Board can consist of no fewer than fifteen Directors and no more than twenty-one.  There are currently nineteen individuals serving – fourteen are Villagers and five are members of the community who strongly support the Village mission.

Key responsibilities include engaging in long-term planning to address the evolving needs of Villagers, ensuring transparency in financial operations, and fostering collaborations with donors, businesses, and foundations. By working closely with the Village’s leadership and committees, the Board ensures that the organization remains a trusted resource for older adults.

2024/2025 Board Leadership

At the helm of the Pasadena Village Board is President Dick Myers, whose leadership anchors the organization’s strategic efforts. Supporting him are Vice Presidents Barbara Madden and Wayne April, Secretary Claire Gorfinkel, and Treasurer Doug Colliflower. Together, this leadership team works to create a collaborative and effective Board environment.

Other Board members include Nolan Arcos, Sally Asmundson, Bridget Brewster, Michelle Chiu, Shad Cruz, Dan Guerrero, Phil Hoge, Rick Holliday, Betty Ann Jansson, Sue Kujawa, Paula Rao, Ronald Stoffers and Jo Yeargin. Each brings unique professional expertise and personal passion to the Village, from law, real estate, and financial services to gerontology, nonprofit leadership, and community development.

Opportunity for Engagement

Villagers are encouraged to support the Village mission beyond membership fees by offering time to volunteer in the many areas that ensure an exciting and engaging experience for all Villagers.  One way Villagers do this is through service as a Board Director, giving time and expertise. Terms are two years, with the possibility of serving three terms for a total of six years.  Officers are elected each year by the Board and serve no more than

Commitment to the Future

The Pasadena Village Board of Directors exemplifies a commitment to collaboration, inclusivity, and innovation. By drawing on the diverse expertise of its members and fostering strong partnerships within the community, the Village continues to grow as a vital resource for older adults in the San Gabriel Valley. With its robust organizational structure and dedicated leadership, Pasadena Village is poised to expand its impact and ensure that its members thrive in a supportive and enriching community.
