The Spirit of the Village: Onward and Upward

As we step into a new fiscal year, I want to take a moment to reflect on the extraordinary path we've walked together, and to cast our eyes forward with resolve, optimism, and clarity of purpose. Over the past three years, Pasadena Village has experienced a remarkable period of growth, resilience, and shared success. These years stand on the solid foundation of a decade of strong community building that preceded them. We have every reason to be proud of what we have accomplished—but even more reason to be inspired by where we are headed.

Our recent success has not come because the road has been smooth, but because we have met every challenge with unity, creativity, and perseverance. The strength of our Village lies in its people: the steadfast work of our members, the dedication of our staff, the generosity of our donors, and the invaluable contributions of our volunteers. We have introduced over 60 new members to our community, which began the fiscal year at 203 members. When we’ve faced obstacles, we haven’t faltered—we’ve rallied. That is the spirit that defines us.

Nowhere was that spirit more evident than in our response to the recent fire. In the face of disruption and uncertainty, our community came together swiftly and compassionately. That response—not just in words, but in coordinated action - resonated beyond our walls. It generated more than $500,000 in donor support, a powerful testament to the trust we have earned and the strength of our mission. That generosity is not only a recognition of what we’ve built—it’s an investment in what we will become.

This year, we recommit ourselves to that spirit. We know we still have work to do. Many ideas have surfaced, and now is the time to bring them into full bloom. The rubber meets the road now. This is the year we bring our plans to life - not just as intentions, but as results.

Over the past three years, we’ve closely examined the changing landscape around us. We responded with thoughtful planning and bold ideas, culminating in a strategic plan that continues to serve as our guiding light. Some adjustments have already shown great promise. Others are in motion and gaining momentum. This year, our charge is to follow through with purpose - to make sure our aspirations lead to concrete progress, particularly in strengthening our leadership, refining our operations, and ensuring the sustainability of our mission.

We acknowledge that we enter this year with financial uncertainty, and we will need to navigate a path that requires wise stewardship and creative solutions. But we move forward with confidence. We expect growth - not just in numbers, but in depth, in connection, and in impact. With every step, we will hold fast to the spirit that has brought us this far: a spirit of hope, of action, and of community.

Thank you for being a part of this journey. The road ahead will have its challenges, but with your continued support, your vision, and your heart, we will meet them - and together, we will thrive.

With deep gratitude and renewed determination,

Dick Myers
President
